Steve Owen is retiring from the Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast/Cabarrus College of Health Sciences in Concord after twenty years. He was born in Winston-Salem. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1971, did graduate work in history at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and completed his master of library science at the University of South Carolina in 1981.
He has worked as a professional librarian at the former Catawba-Wateree AHEC in South Carolina, at the Texas Tech Library of the Health Sciences in Lubbock, and at the former Wilmington AHEC before coming to Concord. The son and spouse of nurses, Steve has lived with health care providers his entire life, and has worked in libraries since his days at Wake Forest. His retirement plans include writing, gardening, and doting on his grandsons.
