Marguerite Abel Service Recognition Award

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association is thrilled to announce Brandi Tuttle as the winner of the Marguerite Abel Service Recognition Award.

Brandi is currently working as the Research & Education Librarian at Duke University Medical Center Libraries and the current MAC Treasurer. Brandi has done an excellent job and shown a great deal of leadership during her time as MAC treasurer. Two notable examples include working closely with the Quad Chapter Meeting Treasurer to help with meeting finances for the Quad Chapter Meeting in Baltimore in 2012 and heading a task force to select a new way for members to pay dues and register for meetings.  For the Quad Chapter Meeting, she was able to overcome many difficulties including those with Acteva, our registration and payment company.   Brandi was essential in supporting the meeting treasurer, working with members of all four chapters, and being a responsible steward of MAC’s finances.  She was an important behind the scenes component of the meeting’s success. With the knowledge that Acteva was not meeting MAC’s needs and best interests anymore, Brandi also spearheaded a task force to investigate new methods of payment and membership systems. Her hard work and leadership helped lead to the transition to a new system, Wild Apricot which is far more user friendly than the previous system. In addition to all of her hard work as treasurer, she continues to present papers and posters at MAC annual meetings. Thank you, Brandi, for your contributions to MAC!
