The Health Sciences and Human Services Library (HS/HSL) University of Maryland Baltimore invites local MAC members to
join us for the upcoming MLA webcast Data Visualization Skills and Tools for Librarians presented by Lisa Federer, research data informationist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library.
The webcast will be screened Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 2:00 PM-3:30 PM in Room LL05 (Lower Level) of the
HS/HSL, 601 West Lombard Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Robin Klein at rklein@hshsl.umaryland.edu<mailto:rklein@hshsl.umaryland.edu> to be counted and receive the participant’s manual ahead of the event.
This webinar will provide an introduction to best practices for creating visualizations, drawing on design theory and principles, visual perception, and the “Grammar of Graphics” framework for visualization. Viewers will also learn about how to select the right visualization tool or software and where to learn more to expand their visualization tool box. Lisa Federer provides training and support in the management, organization, and reuse of biomedical research data and is a co-lead for the NIH Library’s new Data Visualization Service at the NIH Library.
