Congratulations to Alessia Zanin-Yost, a recipient of the 2020 MAC Award for Professional Excellence by a New Health Sciences Librarian
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association is very happy to announce that Alessia Zanin-Yost is the winner of the 2020 MAC Award for Professional Excellence by a New Health Sciences Librarian.
Alessia started as Health Science’s Librarian at Slippery Rock University in August 2019. She is the liaison to students and faculty in public health programs. During her first semester, she revamped the credit library research online course. The trust and open communication she has created with the faculty have led to several projects. Among them, one of the highpoints has been working on a badge-system tutorial focusing on information literacy skills to use in the nursing, public health, and psychology departments. Her research in the health sciences revolves around transliteracy/pedagogy in general, as well as mental health, cultural competence, and intercultural communication. In the area of professional service, she has been involved with ACRL for many years. She is completing her service with these committees and shifting towards MLA and MAC.
Considering the amount of work she has done in instruction, research, and service, and with all that she has accomplished, it might be difficult to believe how new to the discipline she is. Alessia’s CV lists her accomplishments but doesn’t include the praise she receives regularly from colleagues, faculty, and students that she works with.
Congratulations, Alessia!
