In Memoriam – Fran Allegri, retired Librarian at the UNC-Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library
Fran Allegri, retired Assistant Director for the Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, July 26, 2024. Fran worked at the Health Sciences Library for more than 25 years in a variety of management roles. Fran will be remembered for her eternal smile and kind demeanor, embodying the very essence of a customer-focused librarian.

Francesca Allegri, MSLS, was Assistant Director, AHEC Services, for the Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, North Carolina until her retirement in May 2020. In her previous role as Assistant Director, Clinical, Academic, and Research Engagement, she managed a strong liaison librarian program and single service point (20 FTE). Earlier, Ms. Allegri served as Assistant Head at the University of Illinois Library of the Health Sciences in Urbana, Illinois. She held an MSLS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, Illinois, and held multiple roles throughout her career in the Medical Library Association.
