Invitation to Participate
Are you interested in gathering data about your faculty’s knowledge about predatory journals?
If you are, fill out this form and we will be in touch.
We are a research group studying the knowledge and attitudes of faculty regarding journal publication and predatory publishing, and we are looking for your help to deploy our survey at universities nationwide. If you are at all interested in exploring the feasibility of launching the survey on your campus, please reach out to us via the Qualtrics form linked at the end of this invitation.
We hope to deploy the survey to 30 institutions in the calendar year of 2021. The survey is a modified version of a pilot survey used to collect data on the University of Northern Colorado campus in the spring 2019. It includes questions regarding:
- a faculty member’s experience
- disciplinary and departmental environment
- publishing preferences
- knowledge of predatory practices
If you are interested in having your institution participate, we will ask you to serve as a contact for identifying the correct permissions and process of distributing the survey to participants on your campus via our Qualtrics instrument. We will supply the necessary instrument and IRB approval documentation. This process is different on every campus, and we will work with you through this process.
As a benefit of participating in this survey, we will provide you with the data for the responses from your institution to use for assessment, publication, or as you otherwise see fit. Our research team will publish on the aggregated results, and eventually we plan to share all de-identified data in an open repository.
We are happy to address any questions you may have about this research process. Thank you for your time and consideration,
