MLA Members: Request for Support of Section Merger
The Health Association Libraries Section and the Corporate Information Services Section of MLA have proposed a merger to create a new Health Association and Corporate Librarians Section (HACLS) that will provide a consolidated and stronger community for continued networking, programming, and education for MLA members who work in health association or corporate library settings. Both sections have seen declining membership in recent years but see value in continuing to maintain a community within MLA for individuals who work in settings that differ from the more numerous hospital or academic settings in which many of our MLA colleagues serve.
If you are an MLA member and approve of our proposed merger as beneficial for our diverse MLA community, please respond to Susan Marshall (smarshall@aap.org<mailto:smarshall@aap.org>) with a simple “I approve of the HALS and CISS merger”. (You do not need to be a HALS or CISS section member to respond with your approval.) We need 50 “signatures” to petition the Section Council for this merger.
If you will be at MLA in Toronto, there will be a meeting of any current/interested/potential members on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 7 AM EDT in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Room 205D.
